II: EVOLUTION

(2002-2005)

After Atrocity folded, and NOIZGUILD eventually ceased their operations, I began DJing, performing, and promoting stand-alone events under the aegis of ANNIHILVS. In association with various partners, such as DJ Sickrobot/AEX Transmissions, and DJ Rexx Arkana/Razorburn Productions/Morpheus Rising (former publisher of Interface magazine, currently a member of FGFC820), I hosted a series of events in 2002. Meanwhile, Malignant Records released the massive double album, The Church of Dead Girls by NTT.

In March of that year I appeared as guest DJ at The Pyramid for the Black Easter event presented with Morpheus Rising by Jane “DJ Noiseindex” Elizabeth, under her newly founded Tesco Distro USA imprint, and was present with an ANNIHILVS merch stall at her DEATH IN JUNE/BOYD RICE (NON) event at The Frying Pan (where NTT had performed as part of the Achtung Amerika! festival two years earlier).

In May 2002, NTT joined the German act KLANGSTABIL on a series of East Coast dates, starting with an appearance at the first Providence Industrial and Noise Festival, organised by Force of Nature Productions. This auspicious event included several artists with whom I would go on to forge long-lasting friendships, such as frequent NTT collaborator Mark Kammerbauer of FRAGMENT KING.

September 2002 saw another massive festival, this one called God Blast America, produced by Jane Elizabeth/Tesco Distro USA, in association with Malignant Records, featuring some of the underground industrial scene’s greatest legends. The festival lineup consisted of ANENZEPHALIA, BOCKSHOLM, CON-DOM, DER BLUTHARSCH, DEUTSCH NEPAL, GENOCIDE ORGAN, JANITOR, CORDELL KLIER, NAVICON TORTURE TECHNOLOGIES, OPERATION CLEANSWEEP, SLOGUN, and V.D. (TAINT collaborating with SICKNESS). NTT was also on the lineup for an iteration of this festival in Providence, co-produced by Force of Nature.

NTT continued to press forward with new releases and live appearances for the next few years, touring the Northeast Coast repeatedly, while ANNIHILVS remained equally prolific. In June 2003, I traveled to Chicago to perform as a live member of SLOGUN, alongside the seminal Swedish deathindustrial act BRIGHTER DEATH NOW and fellow Swede PROIEKT HAT. In March 2004, I performed in SLOGUN again on a short East Coast tour with the Finnish power electronics project GRUNT, joined by American acts CONTROL, SICKNESS, TAINT, and BLOODYMINDED.

Later that same year I served as chauffeur and ad hoc sound engineer for BRIGHTER DEATH NOW, DEUTSCH NEPAL, and RAISON D’ÊTRE, when they came to perform in New York. ANNIHILVS would later organise and manage the North American tour for those very same artists in October 2014, marking the ten-year anniversary of their last appearance together in the States.

In 2005, I joined forces with Tesco Distro USA, working at Jane Elizabeth’s home office and collaborating on several live events. The partnership produced a string of memorable shows around Brooklyn and Manhattan. When BLOOD AXIS, CHANGES, THE LINDBERGH BABY, and DREAM INTO DUST performed in New York in March, I appeared as DJ and maintained an ANNIHILVS presence in the merch area. The following month, I transported DEATH IN JUNE while they were in town to perform two shows at The Pyramid for promoter NY Decay, and served as DJ. This event also featured appearances by DAVID E. WILLIAMS and DEAD FLY ENSEMBLE.

In June 2005, in collaboration with Tesco USA, I curated the first APEX FEST at Williamsburg’s Trash Bar, with the following lineup:

IRM
INSTITUT
KAITEN
JARL
SLOGUN
OMEI

Within the final week of September and first week of October 2005, there were no fewer than five events in a twelve-day period in which I was either directly or peripherally involved.
